Binnion Hall closed due to water main leak

COMMERCE — Binnion Hall will be closed for most of the weekend because of flooding in the basement, according to Lt. Jason Bone, crime information officer with the University Police Department.

A water main burst, which then proceeded to flood the basement. Bone said the decision was made to shut hall down because the water was rising to the electrical outlets.

Currently the building is without water and power, and Bone said it will be closed for the next few days to allow crews to fix the main and allow the water to dry.

“I imagine it will be closed most of the weekend,” he said. “But you neve know with this.”

This is the second time in as many years the hall has closed to a broken water main.

Binnion Hall is the oldest building at Texas A&M University-Commerce and is scheduled to be remodeled in the next few years as part of the university’s master plan to rebuild and remodel the university.
