Police stop suspect escaping in stolen vehicle

COMMERCE — On Jan. 17, Commerce Police officers had to pull their weapons on a suspect attempting to escape in the parking lot of the McDonald’s in Commerce.

According to Community Resource Officer Alex Suarez, the officers pulled their weapons because the suspect, 19 year-old Quincy Terrel of Commerce, was driving a stolen vehicle.

The vehicle matched the description of one that was seen leaving a home burglary on the 1400 block of Caddo Street in Commerce.

Police searched the car and found items, including an iPad, that were stolen from the home.

According to Suarez, after being questionged, Terrel then confessed to many other crimes.

“This turned out to be a lot deeper than we thought,” he said. “He admitted to burglarizing vehicles in the Churchill apartments (in Commerce). And he is also on probation in Rockwall County.”

Commerce PD is currently working on an investigation with the Grand Prairie PD into other auto thefts Terrel committed there.

“We are going to be filing more charges on him,” Suarez said.
