Four Commerce residents have been arrested after they allegedly tried to end 2012 by going on a shopping spree with stolen credit cards.
A report from the Commerce Police Department said the one man and three women were arrested on multiple charges starting early Friday morning.
Officers were dispatched to the Commerce Walmart shortly after 4 a.m. Friday on a report of a possible credit card abuse case.
Officers detained Ashton Carter, 23 and Quena Dawson, 18. According to the report, Dawson damaged a patrol vehicle and fled on foot, was re-apprehended and once in custody continued resisting the officers.
The report indicated that a large amount of property purchased from the store was seized from the subjects at the scene.
It was later determined that the purchases had been made with credit cards that were stolen out of a vehicle in the 900 block of North Neal in Commerce.
During the investigation, the officers were led to a residence in the 600 block of North Neal where more of the items from the store had been taken. Officers made contact with Darius Savage, 22, and Latambria Newsome, 21.
The report from the police department indicated that along with the fraudulently purchased items, officers also recovered a small bag containing methamphetamines. Savage was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and Newsome was arrested for a bond forfeiture warrant out of Hunt County for possession of a prohibited substance in a correctional facility.
At the Commerce jail, Dawson was alleged to have continued being combative and at one point damaged a phone in the jail cell. She was transported to the Hunt County Jail were she was being held Saturday on a one count each of criminal mischief of over $500 and under $1500, with a bond of $2,000; evading arrest with a bond of $2,000; resisting arrest with a $2,000 bond; and criminal mischief of over $50 and under $500 with a bond of $1,000.
All of the suspects were also transported to the Hunt County Jail.
Carter was charged with credit card abuse and is out of jail on a $7,500 bond. Savage is being held in the Hunt County Jail Saturday on a possession of a controlled substance charge with a $10,000 bond and Newsome was being held on the bond forfeiture warrant with a $5,000 bond.
Officers were able to recover $800 in cash and more than $2,300 in merchandise bought with the stolen credit cards. including a flat screen TV, two Play Stations and a futon.
The investigation is reported to be ongoing and the suspects may be facing additional charges in the near future.

The Commerce Lady Tiger softball team celebrates a 6-4 victory over New Boston at the Northeast Texas Community College softball field in Mount Pleasant on May 10. The Lady Tigers will play number one ranked Pilot Point in the state semi-finals in a best two-out-of three series. Two games will be played on Friday, the first at 6 p.m. and the second at 8:30 p.m.; and a third, if needed, is scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m.

Funeral services for Kelly Walker Jones of Sulphur Springs were conducted at 10 a.m., May 11, in the West Oaks Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Hoyt Scoggins officiating and Jay Porterfield assisting. Interment followed at Restlawn Memorial Park with Lance Looney, Grant Looney, Kyle Smith, Ryan Reed, Taylor Pace and Brad McFadden serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer was Trey Elliott.
