THOMAS WALKER

COMMERCE — Thomas Ray Walker, 55, of Allen passed away after a valiant fight with cancer on Oct. 7, 2012.

He was born Jan. 1, 1957, in Commerce to James Deward Walker and Euple Blackburn Walker. On Jan. 3, 1981, he married Michelle Ballew in Commerce.  Tom grew up in Commerce where he graduated from high school in 1975. He graduated from East Texas State University, now Texas A&M University-Commerce in 1979 with a bachelor degree in computer science. Tom had worked for Hewlett-Packard since 1990, most recently as a project manager. He enjoyed reading and was an avid golfer with a handicap of 10. Tom loved watching sports. He was very involved and active with all of his children’s activities as they were growing up. Tom was a member of Suncreek United Methodist Church in Allen.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle Ballew Walker of Allen; children Drew Walker and Mattie Walker and Ben Walker; his mother, Euple Walker of Commerce; sisters Carole Walker of Commerce, Margaret White and husband Dick of Dallas, and Mary Stokic and husband Mike of North Richland Hills; brothers James Lynn Walker and wife Patti of Pflugerville and Bob Walker and wife Dianne of Dallas; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, J.D. Walker.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Oct. 11, at Suncreek United Methodist Church, 1517 West McDermott Drive, Allen, Texas 75013, with Rev. Tom Palmer and Rev. Holly Gotelli officiating.

Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home of McKinney is in charge of arrangements.

    Funeral services for Kelly Walker Jones of Sulphur Springs were conducted at 10 a.m., May 11, in the West Oaks Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Hoyt Scoggins officiating and Jay Porterfield assisting. Interment followed at Restlawn Memorial Park with Lance Looney, Grant Looney, Kyle Smith, Ryan Reed, Taylor Pace and Brad McFadden serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer was Trey Elliott.
