Steve Humfeld
Steve Hamilton Humfeld, 56, of Greenville passed away Oct. 1, 2009, at Baylor Medical Center of Dallas. Services were at 2 p.m., Oct. 4, at First Presbyterian Church of Commerce under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home of Greenville. Rev. John Purcell and Rev. Alan Michael officiated. Intermentf followed in Memoryland Memorial Park in Greenville.
He was born Aug. 14, 1953 in Hayward, Calif., to Neill Hamilton and Irene Mathes Humfeld. On July 2, 2005, he married Gail Hamilton Martinez in Sulphur Springs. He worked in scurity for Texas A&M; University-Commerce. Mr. Humfeld was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Commerce and was a 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner.
His survivors include his wife of Greenville; his mother of Commerce; a daughter, Amy Martinez of Greenville; grandchild Madison Champion of Greenville; one sister. Nancy Jo Humfeld of Brownwood; mother-in-law Novelene Hamilton of Greenville; a brother-in-law, Randy Hamilton of Greenville; sister- and brother-in-law Debbie and Jim Collins of Sulphur Springs; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.
His father and his father-in-law, Joseph Christian, preceded him in death.
The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or to First Presbyterian Church of Commerce.
Pallbearers were Dr. Rick Selvaggi, Jim Deaton, Pete Combs, Jay Phillips, Richard Terrell, Tim Flournoy, Brent South and Ken Adams.

Benny Westbrook
Benny Westbrook, 54, passed away Oct. 3, 2009, at his home.
He was born in Commerce on May 21, 1955, to Homer and Ruby Marks Westbrook who predeceased him. He married Mary Lee on April 18, 1986, in Dallas.
Benny was a maintenance supervisor for Rhodes Real Estate Company.
Survivors include his wife Mary of Commerce; his sons, Chester Westbrook of Irving, Jason Castleberry of Commerce and Elisha Castleberry of Terrell; his daughters, Ami Newton of Grand Prairie, Breanna, Autumn, Candace and Daniel Westbrook, all of Commerce; his twin brother, Bobby Westbrook of Dallas; his sisters, Glenda Cohee of Dallas, Glenda Mandrell of Mabank and Christina Castleberry of Commerce; his grandchildren, Brittan, Zachary and Jordan Westbrook, all of Grand Prairie, Richard Westbrook of Irving, Justin and Savanna Castleberry of Commerce, and Deanna Phillips and Colin Castleberry of Terrell; two nieces and one nephew.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m., Oct. 6, at Cross Trails Cowboy Church in Fairlie with Brother Jeff Bishop officiating.
Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of usual remembrances, memorial donations should be made to the Cross Trails Cowboy Church, 4761 Farm Road 1563, Commerce 75428, to help cover funeral expenses.

Ralph Lane Abernathy, 79, of Campbell passed away May 15, 2012, at his daughter’s residence in Dallas. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church in Commerce with Rev. James was born Dec. 21, 1923, in Ward, Ark. to Lillie Mae Lyons and John Daniel Boone Riffle. On May 14, 1954, he married Lillian Fulfer in Commerce. He was a self-employed mechanic. -

Mrs. Griffin was born Jan. 6, 1925, in Bellvue Hospital in New York City, the third of six children born to Newfoundland parents William and Elizabeth Simon. -
