Raymond Dickson



WOLFE CITY — Raymond Glen Dickson of Tampa, Fla., went to be with his heavenly Father on Oct. 20, 2008.

He was born Jan. 18, 1968, in Klondike. He was retired from the US Navy and owned his own business.

One brother, David Dickson of Commerce, and life partner Scott Grusell preceded him in death.

He is survived by his parents, Jeanette and Stephen Davis of Commerce and Wendell Dickson of Mansfield; two sisters, Melissa Davis, and fiancé Tom Richardson of McKinney and Jenny Murphy of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; niece and nephew Faith and Forrest Dickson of Commerce; his grandmother, Lonelle Davis of Apex, N.C.; aunts and uncles Mike and Wanda Crowell and Frank and Debra Crowell of Commerce, George Crowell of Ferris, Kenneth Wright of Greenville, James Dickson of Commerce, Sonja Dickson of Mount Vernon and Jim and Marilyn Davis of Apex N.C.; and a host of cousins and friends.

A graveside memorial service was held at 4 p.m. Saturday in Sonora Cemetery in Fairlie where he was laid to rest alongside his brother.

R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home of Wolfe City was in charge of arrangements.

Bonnie Vannote



Bonnie Lunceford Ramsey Vannote of Irving died Oct. 26, 2008, at Arlington Memorial Hospital in Arlington. Funeral services was at 11 a.m. Wedn esday in the Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home chapel with Brother Roy Lee Dittmar of Mount Zion Baptist Church officiating. Burial followed in Mount Zion Cemetery.

Daughter of Jasper Kaufman and India Velva Kincaid Lunceford, she was born Feb. 26, 1924, in Peerless. She was a baker and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are children James Ed and Tina Ramsey of Springtown and Cindy and Santiago Cruz of Grand Prairie; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jackie and wife Janie Lunceford of Commerce; sister and brother-in-law Joyce and Bill Camper of Ohio; sister-in-law Helen Lunceford of Cumby; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Glenn Ramsey; sisters Mary Evalee Nowlin and Treva Nell Beatles; a brother, William Douglas Lunceford; a son, Larry Junior Ramsey; daughter Gloria Ann Nun and granddaughter Tammy Sue Nun.

Santiago Cruz, Vince Walker, Alonso Buenrostro, Edgar Escalante, Yong Choe, Tracy Lunceford, Tony Lee and Tony Douglas served as pallbearers.

    Ralph Lane Abernathy, 79, of Campbell passed away May 15, 2012, at his daughter’s residence in Dallas. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m.  Sunday at First Presbyterian Church in Commerce with Rev. Mary Alice Lyman officiating. Interment will follow at Brigham Cemetery near Campbell. Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

    James H. Riffle, 88, of Commerce passed away May 6, 2012, in Commerce.
    James was born Dec. 21, 1923, in Ward, Ark. to Lillie Mae Lyons and John Daniel Boone Riffle. On May 14, 1954, he married Lillian Fulfer in Commerce. He was a self-employed mechanic.

    DE QUEEN, Ark. – Mary Melinda Margaret Simon Griffin, formerly of Commerce, died April 20, 2012, in De Queen, Ark.
    Mrs. Griffin was born Jan. 6, 1925, in Bellvue Hospital in New York City, the third of six children born to Newfoundland parents William  and Elizabeth Simon.

    Dale was born in Commerce on March 2, 1933, to Willie Johnnie and Tinia Byers Whitefield  Rex. Dale loved riding back roads and watching deer.

    Bernice Woods, 88, of Wolfe City passed away April 4, 2012.
    Bernice was born in Roosevelt, Okla., on Sept. 12, 1923, to Ezell and Ida Johnson McBeth. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and renewing old furniture.

    A funeral services for Richard Lee (R.L.) Wood, 81, of Cumby will be held at the Brashear Baptist Church at 11 a.m., April 5, with Bro. David Burns and Bro. Harvey Snider officiating.
