Morris Miller Ashmore, 79, of Ladonia, passed away Friday, June 22, 2012, at his home.
Funeral services were Monday, June 25, 2012, in the Cross Trails Cowboy Church in Fairlie with Rev. Reuben Trussell officiating. Interment followed in the Ladonia Cemetery under the direction of the Delta Funeral Home of Ladonia.
Ashmore was born in Tippo, Miss., on Jan. 16, 1933, the son of Robert Lee Ashmore and Mamie Hicks Ashmore. He married Betty Treadway on Jan. 9, 1965.
Ashmore was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea. He was a retired truck driver and had lived in Ladonia since 1987.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Casandra Ashmore.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Ashmore; four sons, Morris Ashmore Jr., Michael Ashmore, Kenneth Ashmore, and Richard Dale Ashmore; three stepdaughters, Debra Lee Gantzer, Mickey Young, and Teresa Jackson; eight grandchildren, Crystal Strickland, Jeremy Talbott, Stephanie Hammonds, Michael Young, Michelle Young, Ashley Ashmore, Richard Ashmore Jr., and Amanda Ashmore; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Kelly Walker Jones of Sulphur Springs were conducted at 10 a.m., May 11, in the West Oaks Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Hoyt Scoggins officiating and Jay Porterfield assisting. Interment followed at Restlawn Memorial Park with Lance Looney, Grant Looney, Kyle Smith, Ryan Reed, Taylor Pace and Brad McFadden serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer was Trey Elliott.
