Not guilty pleas submitted in fast food forgery cases

Warrant ordered for third indicted suspect

COMMERCE — Two Caddo Mills residents have pleaded not guilty to charges of engaging in organized crime and forgery, alleging they passed counterfeit currency at two Commerce fast food restaurants.

A new arrest warrant was issued for a third defendant indicted in the case.

The Hunt County grand jury returned the indictments July 27 against Caleb Allen Marsh, Chelsea Raeleen Shepperd and Jeffrey Edward Mowrer Jr.

Marsh, 21, and Shepperd, 20, each received one indictment for engaging in organized criminal activity to commit forgery, two indictments for forgery by passing and one indictment for forgery.

The pair pleaded not guilty to the indictments during arraignment hearings last week in the 354th District Court. Judge Richard A Beacom scheduled a October 1 status hearing for Marsh, and set a tentative trial date of December 3 for Shepperd.

Mowrer, 20, received one indictment for forgery, but is named in as a co-actor in the indictments filed against Marsh and Shepperd.

A new warrant was ordered for Mowrer’s arrest after he failed to appear for his arraignment hearing on the indictment.

The indictments allege the three passed counterfeit $50 bills at the Commerce McDonald’s and Taco Bell restaurants on February 12.
