Commerce to begin spraying for mosquitos next week

The City of Commerce Public Works Department will be spraying for mosquitoes beginning next week. City officials state that the spraying is in response to the large amount of rain received in recent weeks, which has been conducive to mosquito breeding.
Commerce has been divided into four sections to ensure coverage within the city limits. Mosquito spraying will continue every other week as shown on the chart to help control the adult population.
The spraying is more effective if it takes place during peak mosquito biting hours just after sundown so spraying will begin at 7:00 p.m., weather permitting, and will continue in each area until it is completed.
In the event of rain, the spraying will commence on the next clear day.
The Public Works Department will be spraying a concentrate that contains Permethrin and Piperonyl butoxide.
Officials warn that the product is extremely toxic to fish and fishponds should be covered when spraying is scheduled in or near your area.
The chemicals are of low toxicity to people and pets, but they are pesticides and direct contact should be avoided. Be sure to bring in pet bowls prior to spraying. Please stay indoors when the spray truck is in your area. The chemicals will not be sprayed if the driver sees residents outside.

Borders the south side of Live Oak Street, the north side of Culver Street and the west side of Park Street.
SECTION C
November 18 December 2 December 16
Borders the south side of Culver Street, the east side of Park Street and the south side of Maple Street (Highway 11).
SECTION D
November 19 December 3 December 17
Borders the north side of Maple Street (Highway 11) and the east side of Park Street.
