COMMERCE —
Several local organizations will celebrate Black History Month by
presenting awards to local superintendents, principals teachers, and
students on Feb. 24.
The Hunt/Hopkins County African American Leadership Conference,
Commerce Ministerial Alliance, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and
Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., are hosting the Dan and Jalinna
Jones Education Awards Ceremony at 2 p.m. in Conference Rooms A and B
in the Rayburn Student Center on the Texas A&M University-Commerce
campus.
Individuals were selected because of their outstanding academic
performance, school involvement, excellence in education, school
attendance or leadership in education. Students from each school were
nominated by their respective schools. Principals, teachers and
superintendents were selected by the sponsoring groups.
The event’s keynote speaker will be Ron Price, former president of the
Dallas Independent School District.
