A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a former Texas A&M University-Commerce student in relation to a stabbing incident that occurred on Jan. 6. Jerald Manuel has been charged with burglary with intent to commit assault, a second-degree felony in the state of Texas. If convicted, Manuel would face between two and 20 years in jail and up to a $10,000 fine.
The incident occurred at the New Pride Residence Hall, when Manuel and an individual described as his girlfriend by the University Police Department were involved in a dispute. Manuel was taken to a hospital with two stab wounds to his left calf and later released.
The female involved was questioned by UPD. According to UPD Lieutenant Jason Bone, Manuel and his girlfriend had been involved in previous domestic disturbance. Manuel was attempting to retrieve something from the apartment, according to Bone.
Manuel, who vacated his New Pride residence, is supposed to turn himself in later this week. The incident is still under investigation by UPD.
