COMMERCE — The Commerce Journal is launching a new Web site for high school football coverage.

Called Friday Night Central -- and located on the Web at www.FridayNightCentral.com -- this new site will have photos, schedules, rosters and team information on the Commerce Tigers and other local football teams.

The site also has a Facebook connection that lets readers discuss the team and cheer on the Tigers as the season progresses.

“We’re really excited about Friday Night Central,” said Derek Price, editor for Herald-Banner Publications. “It lets us cover football online in ways we never have before, including live updates on local football scores as the games are happening.”

As the games are being played, the latest scores will show up on the Friday Night Central online scoreboard. Readers will be able to submit their own photos from the game to show up in our online photo gallery, and district standings will be updated as the season progresses.

“This is a good opportunity for our advertisers, too,” said Lisa Chappel, publisher for Herald-Banner Publications. “Each team on the site has a local business that sponsors the coverage, and we appreciate their support as we launch this exciting new site.”
