Museum to unveil Atmos Energy exhibit Friday

COMMERCE — Atmos Energy’s Project Pipeline interactive exhibit will be dedicated on Friday, Aug. 10, at 11 a.m. at the Northeast Texas Children’s Museum in Commerce. The ribbon-cutting by Atmos Energy executives is open to the public and will include free admission to the Children’s Museum throughout the day.

“We welcome this opportunity to again work with the Northeast Texas Children’s Museum,” Jeanette Moser, Manager of Public Affairs for Atmos Energy, said. “The museum provides unique and imaginative services for children and families throughout Northeast Texas.”

Project Pipeline has been under construction for several months. When completed, the exhibit will explain how natural gas is brought up from the earth and then distributed to homes and businesses. Children will be able to play in a construction area with actual pipes and fittings now used by Atmos Energy.

A Velcro wall will allow children to construct their own pipelines with balls representing natural gas. Lockers for safety gear, including safety vests, hard hats, glasses and gloves, along with safety posters will teach the children the importance of working and playing safely.

“Atmos Energy believes deeply in the mission of our Children’s Museum, and has been a valuable partner in our growth and expansion,” Jalinna Jones, President of the Board of Directors for the Northeast Texas Children’s Museum said. “Their support has made possible popular exhibits and programs that are not only fun, but educational as well.”

Atmos Energy has supported the Children’s Museum since it moved to its current location in 2007.
