Four arrested in Commerce for engaging in organized criminal activity

COMMERCE — The Commerce Police Department released the following statement Tuesday afternoon:

"Four persons were apprehended and have been charged with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity following a late afternoon theft.

On Thursday, October 18, 2012, the Commerce Police Department was alerted of a shoplifting in progress by multiple persons at a local retail store in the 2200 of Live Oak.

According to loss prevention personnel at the store, multiple persons were indiscriminately grabbing clothes off the rack and items off of displays and throwing them into a shopping cart. 28 year old, Paris resident, Semaj Ramal Jackson, 20 year old Mississippi resident, Cartrell Alberta, 48 year old Paris resident Lilly Tyson Gentry and 31 year old Paris resident, Michelle Tyson were all taken into custody following an investigation that showed that all 4 persons entered the store with the intent to shoplift property.

Mr. Jackson and Ms. Smith were both captured with property still on their person and custom jewelry was recovered from the car that they had all come in.

All persons were transported to the Commerce Police Department where they were booked in for Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity / Theft Over $50 and Less than $500. Because they acted as a group, the charge is enhanced to a Misdemeanor A.

All four persons were transported to the Hunt County Jail and Smith, Tyson and Gentry have posted a $5000 bond. Mr. Jackson is still being held at the Hunt County Jail pending a $5000 bond."
