Club news: Culture Club


The Woman’s Culture Club met in the home of Nila McQuary Nov. 19. Co-hostess was Jeanne Latson. Members bought several items for the Terrell State Hospital project, soldiers overseas, and the club made donations to support the Angel Tree angels. Members also bought food items for the Commerce Emergency Food Pantry. Nila McQuary presented the history of Woman’s Culture Club, the oldest club in Commerce. The club was founded in 1904 and has been active in community events throughout the history of Commerce. Mrs. McQuary presented scrapbooks filled with the history of the club with social and historical changes throughout the decades to recent time. A member of the membership committee presented new member Cheryl Westaufer with a white rose. Ms. Westaufer is also the Commerce Public Library historian. Rosemound Drive Trash Pickup volunteer is Frances Thompson and Meals on Wheels Linda Roosevelt. The next meeting will be in the home of Nancy Green.
