The Annual Commerce Christmas Parade is scheduled at 7 p.m., Dec. 3, at 7 p.m. This year’s theme is “Christmas Memories.”
Everyone can use the memories’ theme to make an entry or may choose a theme subject of their own. Remember, lights and music make for a better float. The purpose of the Christmas parade is to have a good time, open the Christmas season in Commerce and present our beautiful city to our visitors.
Parade entry form which must be completed, signed, and brought to the Chamber of Commerce Office at 1114 Main, faxed to 903 886-8012 or mailed it to P. . Box 290, Commerce, Texas 75429, printed in this newspaper. Encourage others to pick up entry forms and join the parade. Line-up is at 5:30 p.m. at City Park.
Line up will be first-come, first-in-line and as you enter according to a map available at the chamber. An attendant will direct you to pull all the way up behind the next entry. Entries will join in the parade according to the attendants who will be directing participants at the corner of Maple and Park Streets. Regarding equestrian entries, proof of Coggins Test will be required and checked prior to the parade. Unless wearing a bun bag, equestrian entries will be placed after walking groups.
This should be a joyous occasion for Commerce citizens as well as those from out of town who come in to see our parade and downtown decorated for Christmas. Trophies will be awarded for Grand Marshal Award, Best Float, Best Parade Theme (“Christmas Memories”), Best Vehicle, Best Equestrian and Best Mini-Vehicle. Judging will start at 60 p.m.
Join in the fun!!! Participation and support by everyone will be appreciated. Remember, for the safety of the children, only Santa may throw candy. Anyone who would like to donate candy is asked to contact the Chamber Office.
